EcoStandard South Africa has developed an eco-label referred to as EcoProduct for building materials. The assessment and rating is based on a lifecycle assessment approach in terms of the ISO14024 Environmental labels and declarations — Type I environmental labeling — Principles and procedures in order to provide a holistic assessment of a building product.
EcoStandard South Africa’s vision is to be the trusted certification body to set environmental standards of excellence to measure and rate a product, manufacturer and or service provider within the building sector in South Africa. EcoStandard’s mission is to establish a valuable portfolio of certified and rated products who have been awarded with an EcoProduct label for their transparency and outstanding environmental practice.

Conformity with EcoStandard EcoProduct South Africa's standard is verified by an independent organization (third party) following Not at this stage. The Auditors need to have sufficient experience in Environmental Auditing and Lifecycle Assessment in order to conduct and verify assessments
